A Hands-On Electrical Training Course at BBSM

At BBSM, we’re firm believers in investing in our people. That’s why we recently hosted a comprehensive two-day electrical training course designed to upskill our engineering team and deepen their technical knowledge. Held in-house and tailored specifically for the needs of our engineers, the training brought together eight members of our talented team for an intensive, practical, and highly interactive learning experience.

From Theory to Practice: Building a Solid Electrical Foundation

The course began with a dive into basic electrical principles, ensuring that everyone had a strong grasp of the fundamental concepts underpinning electrical systems. This set the stage for the rest of the training and sparked valuable discussions around real-world applications.

Following that, we explored the selection and use of test equipment—a vital area for any engineer working in the field. With guidance from our experienced instructor, the team got hands-on with a range of tools, gaining practical experience that can be immediately applied on-site.

Power Generation & Motors: Understanding the Core

Day one also included an overview of power generation, as well as an in-depth look at motor types, including Star and Delta configurations. These sessions were particularly engaging, with real-life examples and diagrams helping to clarify the concepts.

Workshop Time: Learning by Doing

No training is complete without getting your hands dirty—so to speak. Each classroom session was followed by a practical workshop, allowing engineers to put their newly acquired knowledge to the test. From component identification and testing to control principle exercises, these sessions brought theory into practice and gave the team confidence in their technical abilities.

Cracking the Code: Electrical Drawings & Control Panels

The second day shifted focus to the more intricate side of electrical work. Engineers were introduced to reading boiler electrical wiring drawings—a crucial skill for diagnosing and resolving on-site issues efficiently. This led smoothly into understanding and testing control panels, where engineers learned to trace circuits, identify faults, and test components in a controlled environment.

Eight Engineers, Eight Success Stories

We’re incredibly proud to say that all eight engineers who attended the course passed with flying colours. The feedback has been overwhelmingly positive, with team members appreciating both the content and the hands-on approach.

Looking Ahead

This training wasn’t just about ticking boxes—it’s part of a broader commitment to professional development and technical excellence at BBSM. Another session is already in the calendar, and we’re excited to continue building a team that’s confident, competent, and always ready to deliver the best for our clients.

A huge thanks to everyone involved in delivering and attending the course. Here’s to even more growth, learning, and success ahead!
